John Berry reminds us of the crazy, fun, awesome times in Athens our sophomore year at UGA. I think John Berry is one of the greatest singers ever to come out of Athens. He met his wife at the bar Wrapper's where he played at least 2 nights a week back in the day. I rarely missed a gig."

Athens has always been a hub for music. The big go-to names are R.E.M. and The B-52s, but we shouldn't sleep on John Berry.

The guy has recorded over 20 studio albums, the first 6 of which he produced independently. That honestly seems a bit excessive...but one of those hit platinum, and two hit gold, and I think I'd keep rolling 'em out, too, if I was getting those results.

This "soulful ballad," which earned Berry a Grammy nomination in 1995, is by far his greatest success (x). It highlights his "pure, soulful tenor," which The Entertainment Nexus called "one of the most remarkable voices in music (x).

Your Love Amazes Me is sweet and slow and sincere from the vocals to the sparse guitar accompaniment to the simple lyrics.

Aside from this lovely song, John Berry seems like a cool dude. He's been doing charity work for years, and he continues to work hard and serve as a role model even after undergoing brain surgery in 1994, while he celebrated Your Love Amazes Me as his first No. 1 single (x).

After surgery, he gave us this perfect quote that brought tears to my eyes: "I'm not in so much of a hurry anymore" (x).
